This integration allows you to store on MailChimp your advocates share links (on Merge Tags) so that you can use them, later on, in your templates. The goal is to be able to add your advocates share links in an email template. The image below shows and example.
Setting up the connector
To set up the connector go to the integrations section, select on the Email tab and click the MailChimp integration.
Select the widget package to be synchronized, enter your API key and finally click on connect.
Genius referrals will try to connect to your MailChimp account and pull your lists so that you can select the one to synchronize. Select the list to be synchronized and specify whether or not Genius Referrals should create a subscriber on your list when the advocate does not exist. Click on the 'Use selected list' button to save your configuration.
The last step is to synchronize your list, this will send your advocates' share links to the MailChimp list.
Synchronizing your Mailchimp list
Once you've finished the setup, you need to synchronize your account so that we send the share links of your current advocates to your list. This synchronization needs to be done only once as our system, from now on, will synchronize your account every 5 minutes to ensure that the new advocates share links are sent automatically to the MailChimp list. Click on the Synchronize button and wait until the synchronization is over, you will receive and email when the synchronization is been completed.
Verifying that your new Merge Tags were successfully created
Once the synchronization is been completed, you should be able to see your advocates and you new Merge Tags on your MailChimp list. Genius Referrals will create 7 new Merge Tags, one per network:
- Facebook Link
- Twitter Link
- Google + Link
- LinkedIn Link
- Pinterest Link
- Email Link
- Personal Link
Using your new Merge Tags on your MailChimp Templates
As the end goal is to be able to add your advocates share links to the campaign template, you should now use your new Merge Tags on all the emails that get send out to your advocates. You can learn how to use the Merge Tags here. The following example is ready to go and you can use it on your campaigns.
That's all, good luck!
